Kohup Sports was engaged to deliver two artificial grass turf tennis courts at the Singapore Cricket Club, providing a durable and high-quality playing surface suitable for regular recreational use.

The project required careful planning and coordination to manage a highly restricted construction schedule due to the Formula 1 event, while ensuring the existing court base was suitably prepared to meet the required standards for the new artificial grass turf system.

Scope of Works

• Site inspection and technical assessment of the existing court areas
• Verification and adjustment of the existing base gradient and levels to meet required standards
• Preparation of the existing court base for artificial grass turf installation
• Installation of artificial grass turf tennis court system
• Court surfacing and finishing works

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge:

The project was carried out during the Formula 1 event period, which significantly restricted vehicular and worker access to the Singapore Cricket Club. Vehicular access to the club was unavailable during the event setup and dismantling period due to road closures, while worker access was completely restricted during the race days.

These restrictions required careful coordination of manpower, materials, deliveries, and work activities to ensure the project remained on schedule.

Solution:

Kohup Sports carefully planned and sequenced the works around the restricted access schedule, maximising the available working windows before and after the race period. Materials, manpower, and in-court activities were coordinated in advance to minimise downtime and maintain project progress despite the temporary access restrictions.

In addition, the existing court base was carefully assessed to ensure that the gradient and levels met the required standards prior to installation of the artificial grass turf system. This provided a suitable foundation for achieving consistent surface performance and proper drainage.

Outcome:

The completed project delivered two high-quality artificial grass turf tennis courts at the Singapore Cricket Club, providing a durable, consistent, and visually appealing playing surface.

Despite the significant logistical challenges posed by the Formula 1 road closures and restricted worker access, Kohup Sports successfully coordinated the works and delivered the project to the required standards.

The project demonstrates Kohup Sports’ ability to manage complex site logistics, prepare existing infrastructure to the required standards, and deliver quality sports facilities within demanding timelines and operational constraints.
