Labour Day 2021

While we acknowledge everyone works hard in their own ways, we cannot deny that majority of our foreigner workers sacrifice more than we could understand. They came to a new country seeking a better life for the family they left back home; working in jobs that most Singaporeans would not take up as it usually consists of hard manual labour, long hours and low pay. We forget that our forefathers were once immigrants and were in their shoes, working hard so as the next generation can have more.

Labour Day was gazetted as a secular public holiday in 1960 – a paid day of rest to honour everyone that has worked hard to make Singapore a successful nation. (Source: https://www.gov.sg/article/labour-day-celebrating-the-labour-of-our-past-present-and-future)
