Significant Dates in February 2023
February is a short month with only 28 days. While many remember Valentine’s, for Singapore, there are two more significant date.
14th is the day of commemoration of Lieutenant Adnan. He is a WW2 War Hero who bravely fought against the Japanese Invasion, defending Pasir Panjang Ridge. His sacrifice for the country should not be forgotten.
With the fall of Singapore to the Japanese, the 15th is marked as Total Defence Day. This serves to remind citizens of the sufferings endured by our forefathers during the Occupation. It is also an occasion to refamiliarise our people with the modern defence strategy of “Total Defence” to ensure continued survival and security.
In a different perspective, February is a month of love because our forefathers had struggled and fight through for the love of their country and family.
