Vesak Day 2021

Vesak Day is one of the most important festivals for Buddhists. It signifies Buddha’s birthday and for some, his enlightenment where he discovers the meaning of life. It provides as a time to reflect on his teachings and what it means to be Buddhist. (BBC, 2019)

One of his quote on life was, “Should you find a wise critic to point out your faults, follow him as you would a guide to hidden treasure,” from verse 76 of the Dhammapada. Based on this we interpret that in learning, we have to be open to make mistakes and be called on by our make mistakes. We should embrace having the opportunity to do better and find an experienced teacher who will help us through it. Then we bring it forward by helping others.
